USATF Junior Olympics Dating back to the mid-1960′s, the USATF Junior Olympic program is the most visible youth athlete developmental program in the world. Nearly 70,000 youth athletes compete each year in the Junior Olympic Track & Field and Cross Country programs. Many of America’s Olympians began as youth athletes, including stars such as Maurice Greene, Allyson Felix, Bryan Clay, John Godina, Deena Kastor, and Allen Johnson. Through a series of progressional events consisting of preliminary, Association, and Regional meets, athletes have the opportunity to advance to the National Championships in track & field and cross country. 2013 Junior Olympic National Cross Country Championships – San Antonio, Texas – 12/14/2013
Fifteen Team Prefo members competed December 14, in the 2013 Junior Olympic National Cross Country Championships in San Antonio. All of the members qualified through their respective association and regional competitions with races divided by age group. The trip provided great competition. Athletes attending were: Cassandra Collins, Samantha Collins, Faithe Ketchum, Victoria Collins, Braden Hayes Glick, Matthew Gensel, Cleo Baker, Brynne Ketchum, Abby Dejneka, Alyssa Walker, Angelea Collins, Brody Hayes Glick, Alivia Colliins and Gavin Derick.
Bryce Derick, received All American status for the fourth time this year in competition against his peers. Bryce was 18th overall in the 11-12 boys division completing the 3000 meter distance in 10 minutes, 30.52 seconds.
